Tips For Brushing A Combination Of Natural Teeth And A Bridge

If you have one or two missing teeth, you need a bridge to fill the gap and resume normal functions. A dental bridge comprises a false tooth between crowns placed within your gap. Once you get your bridge, you should continue practicing good oral hygiene, paying attention to the space between your bridges and adjacent teeth and the base of the bridge. Failure to properly clean your bridge will affect adjacent teeth, causing tooth decay and gum disease.

Brush Your Teeth

If you have a dental bridge, you should brush your teeth with a fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day to prevent plaque buildup and the accumulation of harmful mouth bacteria. You can also use an antiseptic mouth rinse to kill bacteria after brushing your teeth. To keep your mouth healthy, you should brush your teeth after meals. You should also floss your teeth with regular floss to remove food particles stuck between your teeth.

Cleaning Your Bridge With Superfloss

To clean the spaces between your natural teeth and the bridge and between your gum and your false tooth base, you should use superfloss. This floss consists of a stiff and spongy end, both of which are useful for keeping your teeth clean. Start by inserting the stiffened end between the bridge and tooth. You should then pull the superfloss until the sponge part comes into contact with the bridge. To clean the adjacent tooth, slide the spongy floss in an up and down motion. You should move this floss back and forth between the bridge and gum base to remove plaque under the false tooth. Repeat this procedure for the other tooth, then slowly pull out the floss. While the above techniques will keep your bridge clean, you should schedule regular appointments with us for exams and cleanings to enhance your bridges' durability.
