COVID-19: Office Updates

The health and wellbeing of our team, patients, and community is our highest priority. We look forward to continuing the highest level dental care when cleared to do so by health officials.

Salem Dental Arts is closed until 6/8/2020
We will remain open for Emergency Patients

My dental office is closed, what does that mean for me?

Although the office is closed, we are still here for you. The office is following the recommendations from the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and has been closed for any elective treatment since March 16th. We will re-open to our regular schedule when the recommendations change and allow us to do so. As of now, we plan to be back in the office on June 8th, 2020. If this changes, we will notify you. We are available for dental emergencies as well as teledentistry. Teledentistry allows the patient to consult with the doctor without coming into the office to determine the necessary treatment plan.

Dental Technology
Salem, MA

Dr. Maragliano-Muniz reviewing a digital x-ray at Salem Dental Arts in Salem, MAAt Salem Dental Arts we use cutting-edge dental technology to provide you with safe, fast, and effective results!

Intraoral Camera

An intraoral camera is a handheld appliance that is shaped like a wand. The tiny camera at the tip of the appliance takes hundreds of pictures per second to capture an in-depth and accurate image of your mouth. This image is sometimes used to create a digital impression of your teeth and gums. A digital impression is particularly useful for same-day dental crowns.

Digital X-ray

In the past, most dental professionals had to use the traditional x-ray systems, which require film development. These days, we use digital x-rays due to their many benefits. A digital x-ray is safer and much quicker than its film predecessor. If the image comes out blurry, we can instantly retake a new one. Digital x-rays are a crucial diagnostic tool that helps us gain a better understanding of the inner workings of your mouth, more specifically the teeth, roots, and alveolar bone.

Laser Caries Detector

The laser allows us to more effectively identify the presence of decay in the occlusal (bite) surface of a tooth. The laser measures laser fluorescence within the mineral structure of a tooth. This allows for the detection of healthy tooth structure, as well as smooth surface dental caries (tooth decay) at their earliest stage. Early detection of tooth decay helps us effectively treat the problem before it requires a costly and invasive restoration.
